The Certificate IV TESOL course will equip you with the necessary skills to teach English to speakers of other language.
The Certificate IV TESOL course is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to teach English to speakers of other languages around the world. Topics include linguistics, second language acquisition, planning and conducting English language classes, curriculum design, cross-cultural communication, teaching strategies, and much more.
The course is 220 notional hours, which includes lectures, assignment preparation and realistic on-the-job practicum teaching and observation. The course delivery mode is offered both full time and part time. Upon successful completion of the course, students will demonstrate all units of competency of the Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and will be issued with a Certificate of Qualification by Sea English Academy International.

The course is available in a number of options as follows:
The full time course is available in one of two options as per the following formats:
Full Time Option 1: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm each week over a 4 week period
Classroom experience, observation, assignment preparation and practice teaching sessions are conducted during the course. This course is not suitable for students studying on a student visa.
Full Time Option 2: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 1.30pm each week over an 11 week period
Classroom experience, observation, assignment preparation and practice teaching sessions are conducted during the course. This course is suitable for students studying on a student visa.
The Part Time course will be delivered in a variety of formats depending on which location you chose:
Sunshine Coast: One full Saturday per month, and 1 evening per week, 6.00 – 9.30pm each week over a 18 week period.
Chicago: Choose from one evening per week, 3 evenings per week, every Saturday, or a combination to suit your schedule.
Classroom experience, observation, assignment preparation and practice teaching sessions are conducted during the course. Homework is required for study and assignment preparation. This course is not suitable for students studying on a student visa.
Course Outcomes
Certificate IV in TESOL graduates will be equipped to teach English to speakers of other languages to teach English as a second or foreign Language in a professional capacity e.g. as an ELICOS teacher (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students), groups of visiting students on short term study tours, groups of migrants for the development of general English skills, overseas students on an individual tuition or small group tutorial basis students in overseas institutions
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Participants who can demonstrate that they have the necessary prior learning or competencies will be able to apply for credit (RPL) with respect to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the course.
