The Sunshine Coast is a naturally beautiful coastal region of Australia. There is plenty to see and do with lots of famous tourism attractions and activities.  It is easy to get around with a cheap public transport system.  On your arrival we will provide a tour of the local area and assist in every way to make your study and stay experience enjoyable.  The following is some basic and valuable information about living on the Sunshine Coast.

Q. What’s the weather like on the Sunshine Coast?
A. Sunshine Coast weather is generally good. During summer (December, January, February) temperatures range from 23 to more than 35°C, so you will need to bring light, casual clothes. During winter (June, July, August) temperatures range from 10 to 22°C.  Autumn and Spring days are generally cool but it can still be quite cold at night so it is important to bring warm clothes.

A. Standard Time: GMT +10 (Daylight Savings is not observed in Queensland)

Q. Where is the airport?
A. Brisbane International airport is approximately 90 minutes by bus from Sea English Academy. There are many buses that go to the Sunshine Coast airport at a reasonable price. A taxi from Sea English Academy to the Sunshine Coast airport would cost about $40.

Q. Is there public transport near the school?
A. Sea English Academy is just 5 minutes walk from Sunshine Plaza Bus Terminal.

Q. Is Sea English Academy near the beach/City?
A. Sea English Academy is located right in the heart of the Sunshine Coast in Maroochydore. Major attractions such as the Australia Zoo, Underwater World are a bus ride.  Australia Zoo provides free buses from outside Sea English Academy campus each day.  There are a number of world class beaches, including Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba beach within walking distance or short bus ride. Cotton Tree Park and Maroochy River are just 2 minutes walk away from the campus.

Q. Can I get student discounts on transport (buses, trains, ferries etc.)?
A. Full time international students are allowed to get concessions on public transport. You must pay full-fare for buses, trains if you are not studying full time.

Q. How much money will I need to have (per week) for entertainment, food etc.?
A. It is a good idea to have approximately $100 per week for personal spending.
