Certificate IV TESOL Correspondence (30737QLD)
 
 
Description

The Certificate IV TESOL course by Correspondence is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to teach English to speakers of other languages in Australia and overseas.  Topics include linguistics, second language acquisition, planning and conducting English language classes, curriculum design, cross-cultural communication, teaching strategies, and much more.   

The Certificate IV TESOL by Correspondence course includes a total of 220 notional hours.  These include a comprehensive reading schedule from the prescribed textbooks, workbook and work sheets, assignments, assignment preparation and realistic on-the-job practicum teaching and observation.  

The Certificate IV TESOL by Correspondence allows you to work at your own pace.  Once you have completed the work book and assignments you are required to attend a minimum of 10 hours of teaching practicum. (4 hours teaching observation and 6 hours teaching practicum). The teaching practicum can be completed at any of our Sea English Academy locations around the world.  You can also arrange your own practicum with an accredited provider.

The Correspondence course is taught through the use of prescribed reading texts, assignments and a teaching practicum. The pace in which you complete each unit is up to you. The pace in which you complete the course is totally up to you. 

 

Completing a course by correspondence offers a lot of freedom. This usually allows you to work around busy schedules and other activities. However to succeed in the correspondence course you will need to be self-motivated and disciplined.

Assessment
Assessment is used to verify underpinning knowledge and skills and competence in all the units of competency.  The assessment strategies are valid, reliable, flexible, fair and consistent.  Assessment is conducted in a holistic and integrated manner.  Assessment is conducted over a period of time, on multiple occasions and in a range of contexts involving a combination of direct, indirect and supplementary forms of evidence using diagnostic, formative and summative forms of assessment.

An important component of the TESOL course is the practicum. All the skills required to undertake the practicum successfully will have been covered in the theory section of your course. The practicum consists of a minimum of six hours and can be completed at any of our Sea English Academy locations around the world or if no SEA location is available you can also arrange your own practicum at another language school with an accredited assessor.    

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Once the course is completed and competency is demonstrated in all units, you will be issued with a Certificate IV in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) by Sea English Academy. A certificate that is accredited by the Department of Education and has world wild recognition. 

The cost of the course is $2,500.00.  This includes a $100 non-refundable registration fee. The course fee includes all required textbooks.  All prices are in Australian dollars.
